Cairn Brewing Celebrates Five Years

Cairn Brewing Celebrates Five Years with an Anniversary Beer, the Lake Hopper Blonde, Honoring Kenmore Air’s 75th Anniversary!

KENMORE, WA -- Cairn Brewing, a community-minded brewery and neighborhood taproom in Kenmore, will celebrate their 5th Anniversary this Memorial Day weekend.

On Thursday, May 27th, Cairn Brewing will release Lake Hopper Blonde Ale, as their 5th anniversary beer. The Lake Hopper comes in at 27 IBUs and 5.2% ABV. Crisp and approachable, Lake Hopper Blonde is an ideal beer to kick-off summer.

Jen Boyd, Cairn co-owner, says, “We value our community so much—the beer community, the Northshore community and our local business community. Kenmore Air holds a special place in our hearts at Cairn. They’re a small but scrappy team just like ours, and literally our neighbors right down the Burke Gilman Trail from Cairn’s brewery and taproom. Cairn and Kenmore Air are celebrating milestone business anniversaries this year—our 5th and their 75th. Why not make our anniversary beer one that honors their longtime service across the beautiful Pacific Northwest and in Kenmore?”

Sarah Feller, Kenmore Air’s Operations Manager says, “We share a community-mindset with the team at Cairn. It’s what’s propelled us both into 2021— the personal touch we can offer as a small family business sets Kenmore Air apart, and that spirit is there in the Cairn taproom as well. Our team has enjoyed more than one after work meet-up down the street at Cairn.”

This isn’t the first partnership for the two businesses. In 2019, Kenmore Air and Cairn Brewing offered a Father’s Day “Flight and a flight” special featuring a seaplane tour followed by a custom flight of Cairn beers. The event will return this year and is booking now.

In keeping with the collaborative theme, Micro Homebrew and Skagit Valley Malting were key players in bringing Lake Hopper Blonde to the glass. Special thanks to our friends at Micro Homebrew and especially Tony and Kat Ochsner for recipe development and Skagit Valley Malting and Eric Buist for the Washington State-sourced malt.

Lake Hopper Blonde is one of four beers releasing over the holiday weekend. Bill Boyd, brewer and co-owner says, “We’re excited to bring out new beers to our neighbors as we always do over Memorial Day weekend. With a lager, an IPA, the Blonde and the infused Berliner Weisse Sour, there will be something for just about everyone. You’ll find me rotating which one pours in my glass next.”

All four beers will be available exclusively on tap at Cairn’s taproom and in 16oz cans.
